Blog Tour – The Lies I Tell by Joel Hames

My Rating 🌟🌟🌟🌟

My Review

Catfish meets Hustle! Addictive and Suspenseful.

Oh, how I’d love to live inside this author’s mind, I’m in awe of how he came up with such a great idea to create such a cleverly written story that is so tightly plotted. My mind is still buzzing from reading it and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

Lisa is a single mum; she didn’t have the greatest childhood herself and she just wants to protect her son and give him the life and love she never had. Lisa sounds like a decent woman, doesn’t she? What about when she is Polly though, or Belinda, or one of her many other identities? Lisa is an Identity thief and a liar; in fact, she spends so much time being somebody else I’m not sure she even knows who she is anymore!

You may worry from the above that you won’t like this character, I’m pretty certain that this won’t be the case. Once you’ve read this book you will understand why Lisa does what she does and if you’re anything like me you will love her and be rooting for her throughout the story!

The chapters alternate between the past, telling us about Lisa’s childhood and the present-day when she is living life as a criminal. There were many surprises in this book and some great suspenseful moments too. I didn’t guess the ending and I have to say I didn’t try to either. This is very unusual for me as normally I have theories galore, but I really enjoyed just reading the story.

This book is very unique and not like any other thriller that I’ve ever read before, which I find very refreshing. I’d say it’s quite a complex read and definitely requires your full attention, but not at any point did it lose my attention, I hated when I had to put my kindle down and looked forward to picking it back up again.

As I said above it is a complex read and I did get a tiny bit confused a couple of times, so I think I’d have loved to have read this book in paperback as it’s so much easier to flick back and double-check things.

I’d never read a book by Joel Hames before this one, so I had no expectations. All I can say is that I can’t wait to read another of his books!

Twisty and tense with lots of suspense, I would love to see this book on the screen!

Thank you to Joel Hames, Spellbound Books and Zooloo’s Book Tours for my copy of this book and my spot on the blog tour 😀

SHE’S WATCHING YOU,

BUT WHO’S WATCHING HER?

From the bestselling author of Dead North, a tense, claustrophobic psychological thriller perfect for fans of Lucy Foley, Claire McGowan and Clare Mackintosh.

Meet Polly.
Meet Emily.
Meet Belinda.

They’re all me.

My name is Lisa and I’m an identity thief. If I’m not inside your system stealing your money, I’ve probably already stolen it. I’m your friend. I’m a thief. I’m gone. I’m in control.

Only now, the tables have been turned. I’m in danger. My son is in danger. And I don’t know where that danger’s coming from.

Any friend.
Any enemy.
Any stranger.
Anyone from the past I’ve been trying to outrun for years.

NOBODY CAN BE TRUSTED.

I’m 37, married with 2 children. Reading is my passion which stemmed from the day I picked up a James Patterson book as a teenager. I’ve been a bookworm ever since. My favourite genre is psychological/suspense type thrillers but i also like a good romance/tearjerker. I’m a member of NetGalley and have my Top Reviewer badge. I hope you enjoy my Book Reviews 📚
